Hint is a creative agency founded in 2006. We have partnered with Nike, Fender, Backcountry, Cotopaxi,  American Eagle Outfitters, Aerie, DC Shoes, Skullcandy, GNC, Museum of Arts and Design, Harvard University, HSN, The Grand America Hotels & Resorts, Rodan + Fields and more.

We are a multi-disciplinary team of visual designers, art directors and brand strategists. We are collaborative, flexible, responsive, passionate and grounded in purpose.

Our portfolio includes identity systems, books, catalogs, brochures, magazines, annual reports, commercials, web sites, packaging and advertising.

We are built on the idea that little things can have a big impact. That every interaction and every experience at every touch point, is an opportunity to communicate the brand personality and reinforce the brand promise. Whenever a brand is rooted in a strategic insight the brand visuals, voice, and experiences invest the brand with meaning and purpose.

Our network and collaborative process sets us apart and makes us nimble. Each project gets its own purpose-built team - exactly the right size with exactly the right expertise. Collaborating with your team, we discover and define the opportunities and brand objectives. We then build and execute a plan to achieve those objectives. Our process consists of 3 phases:

Discovery & Planning

The first phase of our process sets the standard from which all creative is measured.

Definition & Design

The second phase sets the creative process in motion, developing ideas that solve the criteria defined in phase one.

Production & Execution

The third phase is more than just following the creative blueprint set in phase two. It is where true craftsmanship carefully transforms ideas into reality.

Brand Creation. Brand Renewal. Brand Longevity.

Ian firmly believes in the power of design and its ability to excite and inspire. He does this by first identifying the right problems to solve and then explores how to connect emotionally with his audiences. This approach is rewarding and allows Ian to feel a sense of fulfillment while generating meaningful results for his clients.

Design is in Ian’s blood. His education started at an early age under the guidance of his designer mother (Linda Reynolds) and then at Brigham Young University’s BFA program in graphic design. He then worked alongside Jeff Streeper at Modern Identity in New York City where he gained an appreciation for publication design and Annie Leibovitz and her photography. Ian has worked for both in-house brands and design studios. He has partnered and collaborated with brands such as: Novell, SUSE, BYU Department of Visual Arts, and Sonic Drive In.

Ian is a self-proclaimed Apple, Blizzard, and Nintendo fan-boy. He loves movies and music, and could eat popcorn at all hours of the day. He and his lovely wife together enjoy spending time and taking care of their two endearing Furr-baby cats. (Figaro and Zara)
